CRUISE CONT...

IZMIR, TURKEY

We continued our cruise onto Turkey! I had never in my life thought about going to Turkey, but it turned out to be one of my favorite places! We had an awesome taxi driver/tour guide in Izmir. He took us to more Roman ruins, an old castle, the small blue mosque, shopping at his friends leather shop, to a bakery for baklava, and last but not least Mcdonalds for Tom. It was so interesting to see such a different city.

ISTANBUL, TURKEY

Istanbul was a huge city, it has something like 17 million people living there! We did a fast sight seeing tour of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar, and a Cistern. One of my favorite stops was a rug shop where we got to watch and learn how they hand-make their rugs. It is seriously labor intensive...no wonder they are so expensive!

*back on the boat for our fancy dinner...such a beautiful couple!*
